About Julia Izabela
Julia Izabela is a Brazilian naturalist illustrator from São Paulo, living and working in Milan since 2015.
The observation of nature, its diversity of shapes and colours, is the constant source that feeds her work. With a background in Biology, studied in São Paulo and completed in Lisbon, she brings scientific accuracy and artistic sensibility to the illustration of fauna, with a focus on birds, reptiles and amphibians.
In 2024 her illustrations were published by the United Nations Postal Administration as part of an endangered species stamp series distributed worldwide. She has also created scientific illustrations and animations for the Università degli Studi di Milano Bicocca's biology education platform Digital Diorama.
In 2016 she was awarded first prize at the Lucca Junior Illustration Contest at Lucca Comics and Games, Italy, with her watercolour painting "Ground Control".
Julia is available for editorial projects, publishing and scientific illustration commissions.
