BIO

About Julia Izabela

Julia Izabela is a Brazilian artist from São Paulo. She has been living in Milan, Italy, since 2015 working as a freelance illustrator. 

 

The biggest source of inspiration for her work is nature and its diversity of shapes and colours. Her goal is to express through her art how fascinating nature can be through its beauty, from the microscopic to the macroscopic forms. 

 

Julia began her academic path studying Biology, starting with bachelor degree program in São Paulo and graduating in Portugal at the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, where she also follow a Scientific Illustration course at Instituto de Artes e Ofícios of the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa.

 

In 2016, she won the first prize of “Lucca Junior Illustration Contest” of the Italian festival “Lucca Comics and Games” with her watercolour painting “Ground Control”. 

 

Since 2017, Ms. Izabela has been working in different fields such as textile design, editorial publications and diverse artistic projects.

 

In 2019 and 2020 Julia worked for the Università degli Studi di Milano Bicocca creating illustrations, schemes and animations for their Biology didactics website “Digital Diorama”. 

 

This year Ms. Izabela for the first time illustrate stamps for the United Nations Postal Administration.
